I am having my first giveaway!!!

Hello everybody! Hope you have all had a brilliant week since my last post. I know I keep thanking you all for coming here, reading and commenting but again I must say thank you, thank you, thank you all so much! Without you all, well I would be just talking to my self! Thank you to to the people who are following me too! I am absolutely amayonaissed that people do do!

Did everyboby hear this week about the winners of the lottery?

A group of people shared the jackpot, and a couple got 45 million. Have I got my facts right?  That is of no matter though, it was a huge amount either way!  Well anyway, I started to daydream about what I would do with all that money. Quite honestly, the thought of that much money is a tad repugnant to me, and my immediate thought is that I would have to do a lot of good with a great deal of it. Obviously, I would fix my house up and get it just so (lots of Cath Kidston and the like!) and enjoy making my home just as we would like it to be. I would not be at all interested in expensive cars or anything flashy for that matter!  A house and a tree is enough for me!

I think I have put this one on before in another post, but.....here it is anyway!

I would enjoy making others happy, you know, help out friends who are having hard times, treat people and give lots of it to charities, etc. Just try to do some good and hopefully spread some happiness and smiles on the way too!

I heard on the radio that after six months, winners of big money prizes don't feel particularily any happier than they did before. The euphoria wears off. Yes their lives are easier in some ways, but maybe harder in others. We didn't know we had so many friends, Ha ha!!! One thing I have learnt so far in life is that happiness is an inside job.  If you are not happy deep down, then it is unlikely that money will make you so.

What would you do with a huge lottery win?

Now as I said, I would give a lot away, and because I would like to thank you all, I am having a giveaway. Sorry, its not money though!!! George, my long suffering husband and partner in crime, will draw the winner on  the 26th November and I will announce the winner in my Friday the 27th post.

All you need to do to enter is to leave a comment on this post and/or the next post (20th) and you will have your name put into a hat! If you are a follower and you leave a comment, your name will be entered twice!
Reasonably simple I think/hope!  Oh, and if anyone would like to spread the news! copy and paste this giveaway pic with a link please! That would be lovely! :)

You will win one of these....

A Christmas heart, stitched and designed by me.

one of these......

One of my stitchery wall hangings on hessian with two real shell buttons.

A closer view -  Sing, dance, laugh!

one of these.....

One of my drawings in pencil and pastels of my Old English Sheepie - Ralph! It is on hand made paper.

And one of these......

A stitchery with a patchwork border, which my end up as a cushion or a wall hanging, not sure yet!!! It says - what you give , you have. Which is highly appropiate to this giveaway and post too!!!

.......and there may well be other bits and bobs included too! I am quite excited about it!

Do you remember that little tea cosy that I showed you in lasts weeks post? Well Pomona asked if I could share the pattern. Pomona is at Little cottage comforts, and a visit to her blog is well worth it. She writes beautifully and is so talented. Her blog is a delight!  Well if you are reading this Pomona, I will try and root the pattern out and get it to you soon!

So all you lovely people, I hope to be sending a little parcel to one of you soon!  Have a super dooper weekend. Lots of blessings to you all.  Suzie. xxx

Hope all is well with you!
May I enter your lovely and soooo generous giveaway, please?

  2. What an amazing give away, I love the drawing of your dog. Like you I have been thinking about what I would do if I won that amount on the lottery and I came to the conclusion that it was to scary and I don't think I would want all the problems it would bring. A small amount would be nice to finish off my decorating and a few other jobs but I quite agree money certainly doesn't equal happiness.

  5. Hello Suzie
What beautiful things you are giving away - your dog picture is just so lovely, I want to cuddle him!
Like you, the thought of millions of pounds is totally repulsive! So, what would I do with such huge lottery winnings? First of all I'd buy my parents house (it is a farm tied cottage so they now pay rent for it) and would pay any price it takes to make it their home for ever!!
Then I'd give each of my nieces and nephews enough money to buy a home each (all teenagers at the moment and with the house market as it is, they have little chance of getting on the ladder....) and I'd give some money to my siblings too.
After that I'd either give it all to charity (most likely shelter or any other homeless charity) or I would use it to set up a school with a totally creative curriculum and make it free to all (not an fee paying school).
So there we go - I would have contributed to family, charity and education.
Then I could enjoy all the smiles and joy from all those people.....!
    (Oh I might buy myself a fiat 500 !)
Have a super duper weekend - and thank you for a thought provoking post!

  6. Now that is a lovely giveaway, please enter me in the draw. Your Christmas hearts are delightful.
If I won the lottery, firstly I would like to finish this house. We are midway through renovating. We did start nearly 6 years ago. Then I would probably try to find a little cottage with some ground.
Of course I would love to travel a bit and spend lots of time with my family.
    After that, blimey, who knows.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

It is a funny one money isn't it, one THINK's it shall make one happy but sometimes it can have the opposite effect.

What would I do with that lottery win ummmmm, a cottage in the country with beams and an aga, all pretty ck and vintage inside, with enough land to have a few chickens and room for the animals and a big shed for hubby and a little wood, with lots of wildlife, both give up work and of course give a lot to family and friends and help some charities. Can you tell I've put a lot of thought into winning the lottery lol. Have a lovely weekend, ((((hugs)))) Pixie xxx

  17. Ohhhhhhh please, please, please enter me into your lovely giveaway Suzie! What lovelies you have to give, and whoever wins will be a really lucky girl! I think everyone dreams of winning huge amounts of cash, but in reality just enough to pay the bills and give a couple of little treats would be nice. I would love to have such a big amount of money to be able to give away to friends who are struggling and charities that are such good causes but never get the exposure. That would give major warmth to the heart to be able to make others smile so much! Have a lovely seek! Love and hugs Vanessa xxx

  21. Hi Suzie, you're having a very generous giveaway. They're beautiful items! I agree about money not equalling hapiness. We're not wealthy, but compared to people living in the third world I guess we certainly are. I'm always mindful of that. Have a great weekend too and keep on blogging for many months and years to come! Cathy
PS thanks for your lovely comments.

  22. Mornin little girly, Yep please sign me up too. Now IF I won I would do many of the same things the rest of your dear readers would do but Punkin and I would travel and one of the first stops would be to your place and we could have tea in your garden and stitch and laugh, and laugh the day away and of course you could then be our tour guide. Then we would go to Rome and meet the Pope and from there go to the Holy Land and see the places Christ walked. I'd be romanced in Venice, dance a jug in Ireland, Eat waaaaaaaaaaay too much pasta in Italy, Help all the poor in Africa and those 3rd world countries. And when all the travel became ho-hum I'd come back to my sweet little comfortable home and do the same things I do now. I would be honored to have any little treasure you make as I love them all. Warm hugs from Louisiana in the good old U.S. of A. your friend, Mollye

  23. Hi Suzie,

What a lovely generous giveaway! I would love to enter, mind I would have to be really careful of that beautiful picture of your doggie. My youngest is dog mad and would definately be after it! lol.

I think I must be in the majority about the lottery money. I would be a fibber if i said I wouldnt want to have bit of a windfall, to able to buy our dream family home near the sea. But all the other problems that vast amounts would bring no thanks! lol. Its too much of a mind blowing amount isnt it.

Hope you have a magical weekend even if we all might be whisked off in those predicted storms! lol.

  24. What absolutely lovely treasures! I am so happy to put my name into the proverbial hat (twice). :) Lottery money? First, we would pack everything up and move to a large country house with lots of acreage in Vermont or Maine. Then, of course, pay off any debts. The rest - I am not certain of. Definitely I would give some to reputable animal organizations.
Bye for now and take care! Theresa

  27. I must agree with you, Suzie, as far as if I were to win loads of money. Once the bills were paid and house fixed up the way I'd like, aside for maybe a trip here and there to see places or people, there would be nothing more I really needed. I'm not into flashy cars or houses. I much prefer the simpler things in life. I often wondered about these celebrities with mansions and rooms they'd never even set foot in until some film crew asked to see it. How cold those "homes" must feel.
My husband and I have always said if we ever hit it big with cash we'd definitely give to some charities we liked. Homeless shelters, Multiple Sclerosis and cancer centers being at the top of the list since those have been issues close to home for us. Plus they are already things we give to when we can.
Aww, you're giving away my favourite of the hearts. I know whoever wins your prizes will be very happy as they are all lovely and even moreso because they were handmade by you.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  28. Can a follower from the USA be in for the win? I adore your postings and your work too. Makes me want to get back to stitching..........Like you, if I ever won money, I would want to share it around and help those who really need it. But, since I never buy a ticket, the lottery is not in my future :)

  29. Super, super giveaway - thanks so much for inviting me over! I'll put your little pickie on my sidebar, although frankly I'd just as soon no one else entered!

I would love to pay off our mortgage if we won loads of money (although we don't buy lottery tickets, so I don't see it happening!) After that it would just be a question of seeing how or on whom it could be best spent/invested. All hypothetical...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am reading this! And blushing at your compliments! Thank you for being so kind - and having a bit of a thing for tea cosies, I will look forward to your finding the pattern. It is a lovely giveaway - your embroidery is beautiful. I will go and put your little picture on my sidebar!

  31. If I won the lottery I would: Fix up my parents house which has original lead electrics and round pin plugs... and then I would sort out all our own debts and burdening bills... I would build myself a little studio... I would then give to friends and family without them knowing it was us... work out ways to be anonomous... help out the village hall which needs renovating, and leave a Christmas gift on the doorsteps of all the people in the village that greet me but that I don't really know....

I am a giver... so long as I have a roof over my families head and food on the table I would probably gift the rest away... :D

I love your giveaway... wow how wonderful to win all those goodies please pop my name in the hat!

  36. A very exciting giveaway indeed!

I think I'd be the same as you - with that amount of money you'd have to give most of it away wouldn't you?

I have a list as long as my arm of what I'd do if I won an insane amount of money like that - make sure all the family were set up in their homes, mortgages paid off and the like. And I have a friend who's had a horrendous life and I'd love to buy her a place so that she didn't have to live in the horrible housing association flat she's in at the moment. Then there'd be accounts set up for my 3 nephews and my goddaughter so when they're grown up they'd have something.

    Oooh it would be great!

I'll probably have to start actually buying a ticket though won't I?!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I often think that God must know what good I would do with a lottery win so why doesn't he send it my way? It's a puzzle all right! It wouldn't stop me treasure hunting in charity shops or car boots though. Lovely giveaway. I especially like the pic of Ralph as I used to have an Old English. She was absolutely one of the girls and her name was Sadie. Lovely blog. I've just become a follower. xx

  38. This giveaway is the lottery!!!! Such beautiful items, made even more so cause you created them! I am just dying over the heart! 40. It's always so much fun to play the lottery "what if" game! I think I'd tell my health insurance company to take a hike, find a wonderful cottage in Scotland and put in an amazing garden, put back enough for food and shoes and yarn, and give the rest away!! Oh, and I'd adopt tons more dogs!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Goodness it took a while to get down to the bottom of the comments! Not surprised everyone wants to enter. Such lovely stitching and drawing you clever girl!! I would love to win such a beautiful prize, please enter my name and of course you are on my sidebar which is so much better than on my hidden list.

If I won the prize, which I wouldn't because I don't buy tickets, but my hubby does and he shares really well, the best bit would be that my hubby could retire. We could get on with our hobbies without any financial worry. That would be the life!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, yes please I would love to be entered into the giveaway!
If I won the lottery I think I would pay off our mortgage, give some to friends and family and then finally do all the things we keep meaning to do but can never afford to do them! Bliss......

  43. I'm with you, I can't think of anything that I want that I could spend millions on for myself. I would put away enough for my grands to go to college, help my kids improve or buy a new house, fix up my house, maybe buy a condo that is close to my daughters' homes, then give the rest away. Your giveaway looks awesome.

  47. Hi there! Please enter me in your cute giveaway. I've always loved hearts so that is a favorite item. Also what a sweet drawing of your dog - it is so special - as I suspect the dog is too.

Lottery winnings: some to my siblings to get everyone out of debt, good houses, dependable cars, and a little extra for fun. Some to charities that feed the hungry around the world; and some to missionaries to help them apread the Good News about Jesus. I already give what I can to the homeless, so I could then just give more. And of course, I should be generous to me too! Okay, lovely home on a couple of acres, be able to buy lots of things at the thrift stores, flea markets and craft stores that I have to resist now. That should do me. Because the money can't buy me happiness, I would do as I'm trying to do now: live in gratitude to the Lord for all the blessings I have in my little, ordinary life.I don't think happiness is possible without gratefulness...

    Okay, I'll shut up now!!

You are very kind to be having such a generous giveaway! The winner will be very lucky - fingers crossed I am luckier in giveaways than on the lottery ;-) lol

I haven't a clue what I would do if I won the lottery. I think I'd be too shocked to do anything for months. I'd definitely pay off my mortgage and those of my family and close friends. And there are certain charities I'd love to be in a position to help. Beyond that I think I'd set up a fabric/patchwork/sewing shop/craft workshop so people could learn together - I'd so love something like that rather than stumbling through it all myself. x

I think if you're a miserable person and win the lottery you'll continue to be miserable (just in more comfort), but I'd love to win that much. Think how many lives you could de-stress! Most of my friends and family are only really stressed about making ends meet. I'd certainly spread the love!

As to the lottery win, well as you say, if you're not happy already, the cash won't change things. a mere fraction of it would be great. Why don't they give more smaller prizes, so lots more people are lucky?
    Happy crafting!!

  67. If you have the gift of health, a loving family and "enough" for a comfortable life then you are truly blessed.
I am sure the lottery winners who share their money are the happiest. I have read about one couple in Sheffield and another in Hull who have done some wonderful work with their winnings. You can see in their faces that it is not the money which has brought them happiness but the happiness they have been able to bring to others.
Your giveaway is both beautiful and generous.

  68. So cool you are having you first giveaway! I would love to be the happy winner! ;O)
I was actually fantasizing today with a friend about winning lots of money in the lottery... I think I could take 2 years to travel like a crazy and enjoy and relax and then I would use to money to create some sort of business that would allow me to live with conforts for the rest of my life... ohhh... soooooo good! ;O)

  69. Would love to enter your giveaway, thank you. As for the lottery, well where would you begin? I have heard it said that when you win a large amount of money you suddenly don't fit in anymore. A winner appeared on a programme a while ago and said that it had changed his life. If he went into a pub and he bought everyone a drink he was a flash git and if he didn't buy anyone one, he was a tight git! Another one moved into a lovely big house and was an outcast. The "old money" didn't want "new money" on their patch and her friends from the council estate were uncomfortable visiting. There must be a moral here don't you think? It must be amazing to win, but at what personal cost? Dev x

  71. wow - congratulations on the success of your giveaway!! Fab blog and lovely posts so not surprised!
Now what would I do with a lottery win?? I'd buy a bigger house, only I must say so I could have a proper outbuilding so I could have a pooch. I am a serious allergic asthmatic but it is my biggest sadness I cant have a dog. I had an Old English Sheepdog puppy when I was a child and called her Tatters - big black patch over her left eye and just GORGEOUS! I was so poorly she had to go to another loving family (whom we pipped at the post to buy her)and this was only after 3 days...So! Thats what I'd buy, basically not a kennel as we could have one here, but a sturdy brick 'house' of its own!!! Who said pooches are pampered!!!

    All the best

  75. Hello hunny - Here I am...its a lovely blog you have over here :)

I think if I was to win alot of money I would be like you and buy an old cottage and have a picket fenced garden with a lovely citroen dolly parked on the drive....

But I also would have to give it to others in order to make this world a better place...I have always wanted to send our youngsters to Japan...and let them walk through Harajuku and meet the wonderful and creative japanese teenagers who have such a cool outlook on life...i would hope some of their creativeness and respect would rub off on our kids...I would love to help young teenagers, who mainly do not know where they are going...I would hope that they will be better peeps for the trip :)

But then thats just my idea of creating a better world :)

    Love Happy xx
