Angels and pumpkins!

Hello again!

It's Friday, so it must be blog day! I have decided that I love anything with wings, especially fairies and angels. So here is another one of my stitcheries. This one belongs to a small collection of angst ridden angels. They literally 'flew' into my head one day as I was walking the dogs. I was pondering on the fact that some of us sometimes ask angels for help, or to watch over us in our everyday lives as well as in difficult times. For instance 'parking angels', have you heard of them? I have read about people asking their parking angel to help find them a space and they reckon it really does work. So, being the curious person that I am, I decided to try it too. Now, I can't say whether it was a fluke or not, but it did actually work. Still though I thought, surely these angels have better things to do with their time and more pressing problems to deal with! So as I walked along I got to thinking about angels and if they ever had a bad day themselves, perhaps maybe they get a little fed up with always having to be the ones who came out good! I went straight home and started doodling and came up with a few ideas, and the photograph below is one of seven angel angst designs. They may wish that just for one day someone would look after them for a change. We all know that feeling I think!

Now for something completely different!
While I was rummaging about in the undergrowth of my vegetable patch (as you do!) look what I found. Yes! a baby pumpkin, so sweet, hiding under the sunflowers and leaves. I have decided from now on I will give a pumpkin update to show how this baby grows! Will it grow and live long enough to be rewarded with a face at Halloween? I really hope so! Just don't tell the poor thing that it will end up in a bowl of soup, or wrapped up in pastry! I know you shouldn't give a pumpkin a name, but I'm up for it, and any suggestions will would be welcome. Well if you are going to go bonkers, you may as well go all the way and do it well!

That is it again until next time, I wish you all good times! Suzie X.

My drawings and childhood memories!

Hello again! Looks like Friday is my blog day! Although I do remember writing my late night thoughts on another day, I think. Anyhow, last time I posted I promised to show some of my original drawings, just to illustrate where some of my cross stitch and stitchery patterns arise from. Well here are two of my original drawings. The girl with a fairy has been made into a cross stitch pattern, and at the moment it is only available as a pattern and not a full kit, but later....maybe. The other drawing has not been made into anything yet, and you may be able to tell by looking at it, it has not been very well looked after I'm afraid to say, coffee and tea stains adorn it! Gives it character? Erhh, possibly not! This one is definitely a drawing based on my childhood in Nova Scotia in Canada. Just looking at it, I can remember the coldness of the snow and the crunch, crunch under foot. You can't possibly know this, but just after I drew these children they all layed down on the snow to make snow angels! Does anyone remember doing that? I definitely do! Down by the church two children run wild with their dog, I can hear their giddy laughter from here!

Well until my next post, which probably will be next Friday (!) I wish you all love and joy!

Suzie. X

Rainy day stitching

Yes, it is one of those rainy summer days, too wet to enjoy the garden, and I have done all of those jobs which actually never seem to end! So I thought I would share another one of my stitcheries with you all. This one is from one of my drawings, which brings back all my childhood memories of searching for pixies and fairies in between leaves and stones. Yes I really did search for them .... A lot!
At night, I would lie in bed with my eyes half closed to fool the fairies into thinking I was fast asleep. Thinking that I would see them flying about in my room. The downside of this pursuit was that I was usually tired at school! Yet I believed with all my heart that if I persisted, I would see one! Now as an adult (and there are quite a few people who would argue with that description!), I enjoy revisiting that childhood innocence and trust in all things, by drawing and sewing my dreams into reality.

I would love to hear stories about what imaginings you remember from your childhoods!

Next time I will post some of my artwork/drawings to share with you and to show where some of my stitching starts from! Suzie X.

Just a late night thought!

I was sat at the table after a lovely meal and a glass of cava gazing out of the window at the magnificent very large, very old, very wise tree, mesmorised by its ancient beauty and spirit, when it suddenly struck me that we get so caught up in the past and the sadness of lost opportunities and disappointments, that we become blind to the opportunities of the present. I remembered that exciting feeling of being young and new, where there was always something just around the corner promising some kind of new adventure. Every moment was bursting with new hope. Do you know the feeling? Then, suddenly, I realised that we, or I can be at times so weighed down by the past, that I am not leaving enough room for all the wonderful opportunities right in front of me! Maybe there still is that exciting feeling round that corner, if only I direct my gaze onto it. Maybe we have forgotten how to lay ourselves open to a different perspective? I think on the whole I am open, but maybe a tad jaded! We, when we were children lived in the moment for most of the time, filled with openess, or at least I did, believing in everything! Just imagine if as adults we got just one real bit of that back..., wonderful! A trust and innocence in the future. By the way the tree is the Owl tree of Owl tree cottage crafts!

Unfinished projects and sunflowers!

Hello again! I thought that today I would share with you all two of my unfinished projects. These are just a couple on the go at the moment! I've been very busy all round really this past week, and I don't seem to have got on with all I wanted to achieve at all. First of all though, just to bring some cheer, here are a couple of smiley sunflowers that are residing in my vegetable patch at the moment!

So! Here are just two of my unfinished projects.
This one underneath ( if it stays underneath the text that is. I seem to be having a lot of trouble today getting my photos in the right place on the page!), is an Autumn sampler, which probably won't be ready for this autumn if I don't get a move on!
I have still got the borders and bits and bobs to finish, so we will see.

Next I am showing you a stitchery that I have only just started sewing, but I have included this so that you can see the tracing on the fabric, and hopefully this will demonstrate just how easy stitchery can be by just following the lines with simple stitches, and the beauty of it is that it doesn't have to be perfect, imperfection can be charming. Thank goodness for that! I must be very charming in that case!!!

Thats all for today, will be posting again soon. Happy sewing! Suzie X.
